Dubrovnik Day#2

Main agenda today would be to walk the Old Walls of Dubrovnik, catching Dubrovnik views frm the top and absorbing some sun. The walk was worthwhile...the views were very pretty. Definitely a must do in Dubrovnik...err u can Skip the rest like cathedral, musuem and etc. The walk took about 1.5hour....quite tiring though....partly because of the heat too. We were all so excited starting the walk, capturing shots at every corner and angle. After an hour, it was boring...we were speed walking through, trying to finish quickly. Short stops for the sake of it...(MT: ooOoo nice view!!! VT: Its the same for the last hour....k Move on!!!) Hahahaaha..... :P There was alot of American tourist on that day....city stops from the cruise. Got me quite annoyed with the swarm of people everywhere and plus the heat!!!

Met up with our sea-kayak guide at 2.30pm. My first kayaking experience and also out at the Adriactic Sea. Quite worried at first....worried my kayak would flip halfway, worried i would drop my paddle, worried the sea would be rough. But Ahhhh...I really wanted to do IT!!! And i learnt its Super EASY....no SweaT!!!! Not until when your kayak partner failed on you...Hehe!!! It started pouring halfway through...we had to take shelter in the cave (not those dark, creepy ones appear within a gorge...its on a small cove). Continueing on after the rain went away, the sea got a little rough...so motion sickness striked. Strive, Paddle, Strive...back to shore!!! But GooD Fun Experience....I Love It!!!! I will do it again next time....but dunno if i want to try sea-kayaking again.....Hhmmm!!! Washed up and went to Cafe Buza again for evening drinks. So tired after the kayaking...the drink, the sea-view and ambience made it all....Perfect to chill out!!! Of course, pigging over dinner would be the next best thing to end a perfect evening. Strolled around the city for awhile before retiring home to zzzZZZzzzz......Fun Day!!!!

Dubrovnik Day #1

Left Split the next day. Cant wait to leave coz I tot Split was boring. Nothin much to explore. Rented a car, took the coastal route to Dubrovnik...a 4hour ride. Pretty views as you climb the hilly roads with backdrop of rocky granite mountains facing cluster of little islands spreading across and along the Adriatic Sea. Fantastic!!!! The funny thing about the drive is we had to pass through Bosnia. Don't know who marked the borders for Croatia and Bosnia, cos if you noticed carefully....a part of Croatia belongs to Bosnia. And to cross to the other side of Croatia, you have to go through Bosnia checkpoint. Ridiculous!!! In fact we were all hopin that we could get a Bosnia stamp....but one would know these bunch of Chino are just bypassing tourist, hence Move On signalled the officer....Shucks!!! Just about right timing, we stopped in Neum, a little town in Bosnia for lunch. Bugger...I supposed they knew its mainly tourist bypassing...their food was similar to what we were getting in Croatia. Bahhh....no Bosnia cuisine!!! Sat down happily looking at what to eat, only then we realised that we did not have Bosnian currency!!! Being touristy spots...they accepted Croatian currency Kunas (1euro = 7kunas and 1kunas = 4km bosnian). So just a casual serving of Croatian/Italian lunch...meaning Pizza and Pasta!!!

Continuing on...we reached Dubrovnik abt 4pm. Drove straight to Old Town to meet our apartment owner for keys. I was very impressed with Dubrovnik Old Town. The old walls surrounding the small city made it special, giving a sort of castle fortress feeling. The walls were the only structure which was not demolished during the war. Everything inside the walls were bombed to pieces. So once again, everything we saw inside was totally rebuilt. But they made alot of effort to retain and restore its origins. The whole town looked very pretty and romantic by night. Left our rucksacks in the apt and headed off for evening drinks at Cafe Buza (suggested by MT). A small cafe by the cliffs of the old walls looking out at the Adriatic Sea. Very romantic and a perfect place to chill out. All couples should make a visit to this place...Highly Recommended!!! Followed by another seafood dinner, then strolled around the city and more drinks before retiring to rest for more sights and touristy activities tomorrow!!!
